NaHS dissolves in water to dissociate HS- and S2-. Based on this property, NaHS can be utilized not only as an activator of copper-cobalt oxide ore, but also as a flotation depressor for certain sulfide minerals, and as an induced flotation agent for pyrite. As cobalt metal is mostly associated with pyrite in the form of isomorphism. The induced flotation of pyrite by NaHS can greatly enhance the floatability of cobalt sulfide ore.
